CalFresh helps you put healthy food on your table. Use CalFresh to buy fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, lean meats, even seed for your vegetable garden.

CalFresh is easy to use. Each month, CalFresh benefits are issued on an electronic benefit transfer (EBT) card – it’s just like an ATM card. The card can be used at most grocery stores, discount chains, farmers’ markets, and neighborhood stores.

CalFresh has special rules to make it easier for older adults, age 60-plus to qualify. You can have a house, savings, cars, and still join the program. Your housing costs and medical bills may be deducted from your income in determining your eligibility. You may receive Social Security Income but not Supplemental Security Income (SSI). All legal residents are qualified.

Utilities Assistance

CARE provides discounts if your income is less than a specified level. Download the PGE CARE application Form to learn more. If you need assistance, we can help you complete and return it to PGE.

California Telephone Access Program (CTAP)

Do you have difficulty using a standard telephone due to hearing, visual, mobility, speech, or cognitive difficulties? You can receive a CTAP phone by completing the CTAP application form, signed by your doctor or other health professional.

Depending on your income and resources, you may qualify for the full subsidy or a partial subsidy. To receive the subsidy, you must enroll in a Medicare Part D plan or a Medicare Advantage plan.
