COVID-19 Relief Funds: THANK YOU!

Our heartfelt thanks to the following foundations for their generosity in helping us continue our services to older adults with critically needed supplies and funding.

The Community Foundation of Monterey County ($10,000):

The CFMC and the Monterey Peninsula Foundation provided the crucial funding needed to enable us to purchase i-Pads for residents living in long-term care facilities.

The i-Pads will ensure that older adults living in these facilities, who are isolated from their family and friends due to Shelter-in-Place, can communicate with their loved ones via the virtual platform.  The i-Pads provide a gateway away from loneliness and enhance their mental well being.

In April, we received $7,500 in COVID-19 emergency funds from the Hospice Foundation to support our many programs for older adults.  The funds enabled us to provide critical support services to seniors in need of transportation assistance, benefits checkup, counseling and others.  Our programs managers were able to call and check on the welfare of each of their clients.

Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital (500 Masks):

During the early days of the COVID-19 Shelter-in-Place in March, critically needed disposable masks were nearly impossible to find.  Through SVMHS ‘s generosity, we received 500 masks for distribution to older adults, especially those living in low-income neighborhoods, who are most vulnerable to the disease.  The masks helps provide a layer of protection while these seniors are in the public shopping or picking up medicine.

A gift of any size will support our mission to provide services “to sustain an ever-evolving community network of viable programs that foster long and healthy living.

The Alliance on Aging provides free or low-cost services to more than 5,000 seniors and their family members each year. While many services are partially supported through grants, with your help, we can continue to ensure that all who need it will receive our assistance.
