CalFresh Healthy Living, federally known as Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program-Education, is the largest nutrition education program in the United States. More than one-third of California residents are eligible for CalFresh Healthy Living. CalFresh is easy to use. Each month, CalFresh benefits are issued on an electronic benefit transfer (EBT) card – just like an ATM card. The card can be used at most grocery stores, discount chains, farmers’ markets, and neighborhood stores. CalFresh has special rules to make it easier for older adults over the age of 60 to qualify. Your housing costs and medical bills may be deducted from your income in determining your eligibility. You can receive Social Security Income or Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and still qualify.

Do you have difficulty using a standard telephone due to hearing, visual, mobility, speech, or cognitive difficulties? You can receive a CTAP phone by completing the CTAP application form, signed by your doctor or other health professional.
