2018 TRASHION (Salinas)
THANK YOU EVERYONE!
Our thanks to the many wonderful sponsors, artists /designers, models, and volunteers for making this year’s Salinas Trashion Show, held on September 7th, such a huge success. We had not one, but two shows this year—lunch and dinner—in one day!
This year’s theme, “The 1960s & 1970s”, had everyone groovin’ to their favorite tunes from the Beatles to the Bee Gees. The lunch show opened with Sonny (Tommy Nunes) and Cher (Mendy Amaral)—real life brother and sister team—singing a duet—“I Got You Babe”. This was followed by a parade of 20 original, one-of-a-kind dresses made from recycled, repurposed materials. A new Sonny (Frank Savion) and Cher (Jessica McKillip) kicked off the night event. Mendy Amaral was the Fashion Commentator for the lunch show while former KSBW newscaster, Adrienne Laurent, hosted the evening show.
The Master of Ceremony was J. Alan Fagan, a local business development consultant. He anchored both shows. Highlights from the two shows include the “Groovin’ Grannies” dancing to the Bee Gee’s song, “Staying Alive.”
